“Gabor Bolla
is a 17-year old secondary school student. But as a jazz
saxophonist, he has travelled the world and he’s got the
prestigeous Hans Koller Award in Vienna. According to music
insiders, only once in a century is such a talent born like
him. (…) Gabor lives a double life. He gives concerts, plays
music in clubs until late at night, and, in the meantime, he
is just a student in a secondary school who is most
interested in geography and loves football and Real Madrid.
At the moment, he likes both situations but he says if he
got the chance, he would go abroad (to America, first of all)
to learn because he feels that possibilities in Hungary are
limited. His choice would be the Jazz Department of the
Juilliard School in New York because he thinks that training
there is more personal and creative than at the Berkley in
Boston which is considered to be the number one place of
jazz training. His big dream is to play together with his
role model, Sonny Rollins at Village Vanguard, the best jazz
club of the East coast.” |
